Trudy Cornish – INSPIRING ARTISTS from Research this week

Having spent the week researching and playing with colour I didn’t get to put this up by Friday.  Following are some of the artists that I have been researching because their work speaks to me in that I respond to their work because of the colour.  This is something that I am aiming at bringing to my work and so have been experimenting with colour after my discussion with Julie the other week.

Here are some artists that have captured my imagination and attention in my researching Response to Colour.

San Pedro, a German native, lives and works in McKinney near Dallas, USA.  The people she met all over the world, the places she visited and the impressions she gathered influence San Pedro’s work. After her worldwide travels as an Executive Chef, she got married and her love for abstract art and color made her open her art studio in 2010. San Pedro is an eco-friendly / green artist, uses mostly recycled materials for her artwork and mixes her oil paint from natural pigments and linseed oil. She builds her own frames, stretches the fabric and primes them with gesso.

Franziska uses eco friendly materials in her work, which is encouraging to know there are mentors out there working in this way.  It’s encouraging to me because my desire to create doesn’t come with a budget to match, as most artists find.  Researching work like San Pedro’s helps me think outside the box and store in my little brain ideas for future reference.

• Oil Color: nature’s best pigments which then are mixed with linseed oil
• Surface: recycled fabric, primed with home-made gesso (chalk, hide glue)
• Frames: from recycled wood

San Pedro says:
“To me, ART is the most accurate way to communicate and express myself while color is just an illusion anyways.“ (SAN-PEDRO, 2011)

Jake BECKMAN:- Abstract & Representational Painter. http://akajake.com/index.html

Jake Beckman, AKA Jake, Phoenix, AZ fine artist, abstract artist, representation artist and acrylic painter. For Beckman is it the freeform exploration and expression of color, geometric shapes, spirals, emotion, ideas, textures and structured formlessness – using various mediums to accomplish her vision.  Her work is in her words “modern paintings and digital art”.

Beckman used Fibonacci spirals, golden spirals, fractals, and other abstract and geometric forms. Contemporary art with vivid colors inspired by the artist’s life and work in Arizona.

This is inspiring to me as it includes photography (I can’t live without a camera), and spiritual aspect that I find I can’t create without it being a connection spiritually and physically.  I feel she is someone that will continue to inspire me and I hope to be able to experiment over the years and find my path using my passion for creativity and speaking to the viewer. (Beckman, 2011)

Ginger has the ability to suspend reality and trust her intuition as she creates abstract paintings that result in primitive arrangements of color and shape. She allows the color, line, form, tone and texture to be the subject of her paintings as they interact with each other. Ginger relies on nature as a source of inspiration that can be identified in her use of multiple layers of thick texture, color and pattern. Much is left to the imagination of the spectator, as they become the interpreter of the work. Ginger prefers not to guide the viewer’s interpretation, rather she captures the viewer’s attention, draws them in, keeps them looking, and generates an emotional response.

I am drawn to Oglesby’s work because of her process and the resulting work.  I feel frustrated at times that I have to have a ‘plan’, a ‘concept’, which I recognise as learning, and gaining skills and knowledge.  My aim then is to be able to go through the required process, maintaining my ‘way’ and producing work I am proud of and that I feel I can let go out into the world.

Love After Love

I came across this in doing research for Uni and felt it a valuable Poem and worth putting up for you all.  It is made up of thoughts and words that beg us to sit in stillness and reflect.  I hope you enjoy it.

The time will come when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

A New Begining

Today is a new beginning for me as a blogger.

As part of my BA in Fine Arts, the compulsory subjects I have undertaken this year requires my blogging here on WordPress.  So far the experience hasn’t been to painful in the setting up process, so thank you to WordPress for making this relatively painless.

I will be utilising my blog for uploading and sharing my work, thoughts, research and supporting and receiving support and feedback from my Charles Sturt University class and lecturer.

So it’s a huge welcome to my site, I hope you enjoy your visit and that my journey may also inspire others s I will be inspired by others in the sharing that I hope is created here.

Welcome to the Art World of Trudy Cornish

Hi and Welcome,

I am a Visual Artist living in the North East Region of Victoria, Australia.

I completed my Diploma in Visual Arts in 2012, covering Business Practice, Art History, Drawing, Sculpture and Jewellery Making. I majored in Painting and Printmaking. In 2013, I began my Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts).

In creating art, I maintain awareness that each brush stroke, layer of paint, layer of a print, molding of a sculpture, each step contains awareness and intent from the highest will and good, for beauty to be brought before each viewer.  We are surrounded by boundless beauty, which I wish to share.

My work is often influenced by my photography which I often take in the form of the macro viewpoint. I am drawn to look closer at things and try not to miss beauty right in front of me.

My work is a devotion to humanity, its potential, its connection to all in the Universe and the Earth, to each other.  I create with Love and my intent is that it will be passed on.

I am new to the blogging world, however, I hope that I will be able to create and inspire through my art and words. Constantly I find myself inspired by life, other people’s stories and journeys in life, words & thoughts that cause reflection. I will be posting the gems I find under my Links pages.
